Aristophanes

Man is the most intelligent of the animals - and the most silly.

Aristophanes (c. 446 – c. 386 BCE) was an ancient Greek playwright and satirist renowned for his comedic works. Born in Athens, he authored over 40 plays, but only 11 have survived. His plays, including "Lysistrata" and "The Clouds," are known for their sharp wit, social commentary, and criticism of Athenian society and politics. Aristophanes' comedic style often relied on parody, wordplay, and exaggerated characters to lampoon contemporary issues and personalities.
