This book features two recently discovered unpublished translations by renowned historian and Greek translator Simon Krkyasharyan (1923–2011). The texts include the semi-mythical History of Alexander the Great and two sections from Appian’s monumental historical work, Roman History: The Syrian Wars and The Mithridatic Wars. The latter contains significant references to Armenian history.
Krkyasharyan did not have the opportunity to edit his translations or write an introduction and commentary. Gohar Muradyan, who prepared the texts for publication, undertook these tasks. Unfortunately, chapters 95–121 of The Mithridatic Wars are missing.
